What is your favorite thing about working at Center City District?
JS: I love that no two days are the same at Center City District, we don't spend eight hours a day tied to our desks, and we can walk down the streets of Philadelphia and actually see first-hand all of the work we do and the impact we have on the city.
What is your role, and what does a day in your work life at CCD look like?
JS: My title is Retail Economic Development Manager, and that covers a few different roles. Our Economic Development team is tasked with most of CCD's research efforts, including writing many of our annual reports. My role specifically also includes working with brokers, tenants, and government officials to make sure all parties have the information they need to do business in Center City.
What work are you most proud of in your role at CCD?
JS: It would definitely be our annual Retail Report that myself and the rest of our team work on every year.
If you were planning a day out in Center City, what would be on the agenda?
JS: A lot of walking and eating. Starting with breakfast at Down Home Diner in Reading Terminal Market (along with eating everything else at Reading Terminal), then doing some shopping along Walnut Street. Next, head to the Octopus Falafel Food Truck at 20th & Market streets to grab lunch and eat it at Rittenhouse Square. After lunch, check out the The Mütter Museum followed by a movie at the Philadelphia Film Center at Broad & Chestnut. And finally, dinner at The Dandelion.
What is something interesting about you outside of your work at CCD?
JS: I have visited all the lower-48 United States!
