The Center City District's CSRs are a welcoming presence in downtown Philadelphia who can be found in Center City seven days a week, wearing distinctive teal uniforms and equipped with two-way radios, first-aid gear, maps and more. They interact with the public to provide information or directions and are equally prepared to administer first aid, request police services or provide outreach to unsheltered individuals.
What is your favorite thing about working at CCD?
My favorite aspect of working at CCD is the opportunity to help people. I enjoy the uncertainty of each day and the variety of situations that arise. I particularly take pleasure in assisting tourists or immigrants in their own language, as it allows me to empathize with their experiences.
What is your fondest memory from work?
I have had many positive experiences at work. Generally, during emergencies (which we refer to as "priorities"), our team jumps in to assist. Before you know it, there are three people next to you, all offering support. I really appreciate the true teamwork displayed here.
If you were planning a day out in Center City, what would be on the agenda?
As a thrifting enthusiast, my first stop would be 2nd Street and then Buffalo Exchange. After shopping, I would take a break at Beiler's Bakery in the Reading Terminal Market to enjoy a slice of strawberry cheesecake. Next, I would do some more shopping at the Fashion District. To wrap up my day, I would dine at my favorite restaurant, Taste of Spain; it's the best Spanish restaurant in all of Philadelphia. Be sure to order the Spanish ham—you won't regret it!
Have you had any celebrity sightings? OR who is the most memorable person you’ve met?
The only "celebrity" I’ve encountered is my manager, Andre. He makes the best blueberry muffins for all of his colleagues. It's a shame that our clients can’t enjoy them!
What is the most commonly asked question that you get?
“Where is Reading Terminal Market?” or “Where is your accent from?”
What is something interesting about you outside of your CCD work that you would like to share about yourself?
I love thrifting and have a passion for antiques and old things in general. When I get the opportunity, I enjoy traveling to visit my family around the world, including places like France, Vietnam, Thailand, and Spain. Additionally, I speak four languages, work as a Spanish teacher in my free time, and am currently studying to improve my Italian.
